Department of Food Engineering
The Department of Food Science and Engineering (the Department) has 507 students with two undergraduate majors: Food Quality and Safety, and Food Science and Engineering. The Department has a faculty of 35 teaching staff, including full-time and part-time teachers. Among them, 40% have doctor’s degree and 35% have senior titles, who have formed a faculty of reasonable title, age and academic background, with excellent ethics and strong professional quality and ability to serve the local economy. In the academic year of 2018 and 2019, our students won more than 40 honors and awards at or above the provincial level, such as national scholarship, national encouragement scholarship, provincial outstanding students, and provincial merit students. Taking advantage of resources and platforms of Kweichow Moutai Group and other large-scale enterprises and institutions, the Department has established 15 teaching and scientific research practice bases with deep integration of production and teaching. In recent two years, our teachers have won approval of 3 provincial and ministerial level projects, 15 municipal level projects, and 5 college level projects. Besides, the Department has been approved to build a provincial Engineering Technology Center, a Talent Construction Base and other platforms, with various scientific research funds reaching RMB6.58 million. What’s more, the Department always keeps in mind of serving the local economy, selects young teachers to study further and improve their academic degrees, or organizes teachers to go to enterprises, providing technique supports or having training lectures over 300 times.
